Our Story

In 1996, a Durban family saw an opening in the wholesale grocery market. Pooling our resources, we moved in to fill that gap and Hambanati Food Services was born. That’s where we have remained ever since, now firmly entrenched in our own niche as the premier food service provider for both public and private sector clients in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape.

Right from the start, Hambanati was a family business and, in every sense, we still are. We maintain a close-knit team that provides personalised and economical service, with high standards of customer care and quality. We combine our family and community-conscious approach with lean and efficient logistics to bring our clients wholesale prices on bulk food supplies, delivered with the personal attention you would expect from your community family grocer.

Hambanati is a Zulu word meaning ‘go with us’. This is exactly what we invite our clients in catering, eventing, accommodation, government departments and educational institutions, among others, to do: when it comes to wholesale dry goods,d airy, fresh produce, frozen foods and cleaning supplies, go with us… the number one food service company on the East Coast.

Mission

No matter what business you’re in, no matter what project you’re working on, no matter who your clients and staff are, you need food – and you need a dependable supplier to deliver your food while you get on with your business. This is the role we set out to fill.

We combine our family ethos, a sharp eye for quality and value, and lean and efficient logistics to provide food and service of the highest calibre to a varied range of clients. In so doing, we continue our mission to carve out our niche as a provider of unsurpassed value.

We know that good food supplies make the difference between happy and unhappy staff, between successful and unsuccessful events, between repeat business and lost clients. We are committed to making that difference for our increasing network of customers along South Africa’s east coast.
